Glitch has never been my favorite thing, but I like what you've made here. It's definitely smooth, and I like the instrument choices. The transitions are all quite good, honestly. They function well in the context of this piece. I liked the drums when they were grooving. They really glued a lot of the sections together. In fact, I was a bit sad when they dropped out at 2:37 and didn't come back following that. It may just be a personal thing, but I was expecting a climax to kick in after that last chord. It felt like it was building up to something, dropped out, and... stopped. I was craving something savory to follow up on it :c But I dunno, that may just be me. Like I said, I'm not quite knowledgeable on the genre.

Mix-wise, I think it's pretty nice. I can't hear anything wrong with it, and there's some fun panning stuff happening here and there. It all meshes quite nicely.

Really good stuff!

It may be short, but what it has is really tight and polished. Sounds really slick! Is that Captain Falcon grunting in the background (00:59)?

Quarl responds:

Yes :'|

Your ability to combine retro sounds with live instruments is really cool and unique. You've written them together very well, and I can easily visualize your story with this piece playing. I really like the melody and the progression of this one! It's good, interesting stuff all around :3

Calamaistr responds:

In this track the instruments were meant to portray a sighing to connect the atmosphere to the story. :)

The idea to combine retro with live came from a treasured client of mine called minotaur on ng, or karlo as i know him as a idea for the ost for one of his games still under construction, at first i was reluctant and could not make it work, but now that i know how to mix and master it right its actually pretty easy and i've started to love it myself. :) Enough to compose the whole ost for EGEO in this style.

Thank you for your review. :)

Fantastic improv and composition! Some real work went into this beast!

Step responds:

Yep, we all worked very hard on it! Personally, this amounted to around 23 hours of work. I'm really glad the effort shows.

Thanks for the review ^_^.

It can be really hard to make an interesting arrangement of an already well-orchestrated song, but I really like what you've done with this. The intro was especially cool, easily my favorite part. Loved all the sound effects thrown in there! Stellar stuff!

This style always puts a smile on my face. You did it a lot of justice with this, I thought it sounded stellar ever since you put it up on SC. It's reminiscent of SPvTW, of course, but it actually sounds closer to a song that the band "I Fight Dragons" would make. I love their stuff, so this is right up my ally. Awesome work! :D

Mattashi responds:

I love Anamanaguchi especially the music they did for SPvTW so there's definitely some inspiration I got from them! I haven't heard of "I fight Dragons" I'll go check them out :D
Thank you!

This reminds me a bit of Flying Colors, but maybe that's because I saw them recently. I'll admit, I was expecting a bit of keyboard/synth, but I enjoyed what was there quite thoroughly. The mix already has a lot going on. Also, Hitokirito's vocals are outstanding! When will the collaborative prog-rock album hit the shelves? :3

SoundChris responds:

THanks a lot for your kindness sir! I will have to check out Flying Colors asap - i am sure Hitokirito knows them since this is his genre while i am more the jazz, world music, medieval and classical guy. A collab album is not planned yet but ... you never know :D Thanks for leaving your thoughts here and all the best from both of us!

This has the type of entrancing atmosphere that I'd expect from you. What's lacking in realism is made up for by the great balance of the instruments and memorable melody/harmony. I think it depicts the scene you were going for rather well! Really glad to hear something new from you, even if it is pretty short ;P

Neon-Bard responds:

Many thanks for listening, DMO. As short as this track is, it's good to know that there was a good balance happening. I will strive to create longer pieces in the near future! :P

Loved all the stuff you've been uploading from your album lately. This one, in particular, I really like. It goes in interesting directions and sounds super tight (like every other song on the album). Magnifique!

Mattashi responds:

Thanks allot! :)

The atmosphere is so very haunting in this. The drones and sounds you put together alongside the very pretty melody really do come together nicely. The sound effect that comes up at 00:50 among a number of other occasions isn't quite my favorite (I always associate that with horror movies... personal bias) in here, but it doesn't really detract anything. Splendiferous! :D

Mattashi responds:

Thank you! I know what you mean that sound effect (Waterphone) you hear it allot in horror movies indeed :) but I love to use it with mystery / emotional pieces, I've heard it in a few movies/game soundtracks.
Thanks for the review!

Maker of rambunctious VGM. Cacophonous chameleon. Desperately in need of a rebrand.
I respond pretty quickly to PM's, so feel free to message me!
